Are you a member of Fleet Feet's Marathon in Training (MIT) program? Join the MIT SoleMate cohort!

What is SoleMates?

SoleMates is a community made up of passionate people raising money for Girls on the Run. Whether they’re counting miles on the trail, laps in a pool, reps in the weight room or downward dogs in the studio, all SoleMates share a common desire to be champions for girls.

As a SoleMate, you will train for a physical activity challenge of your choice while raising critical funds to support more girls in our community. Dream up a challenge that works for you and commit to go the distance. As a SoleMate, you’ll have access to:

  • A personalized online fundraising page

  • Resources to help you be a superstar fundraiser

  • One-on-one support from our Girls on the Run staff

  • Branded SoleMates apparel and more! 

MIT Cohort

The SoleMates MIT cohort is comprised of a dedicated group of MIT members who commit to raising money to support Girls on the Run of Central Ohio. Members will each reach their own individual fundraising goal alongside one another. The MIT cohort will gain the support and community of other like-minded runners and access to exclusive cohort benefits including:

  • Voucher for a free pair of shoes from Fleet Feet*

  • ​Entry to GOTRCO 5K

  • SoleMate SWAG and apparel*

  • Participation in four exclusive GOTR for Grownups lessons (more below)

  • End of season cohort celebration

For Grownups

Girls on the Run has taken their transformative lessons for girls, and reshaped the lessons for adult professional and personal development. The GOTR for Grownups lessons encourage development of critical life skills such as how to manage emotions, help others, make intentional decisions, and resolve conflict.

GOTR for Grown Ups GOALS:

  • Build-up self worth and confidence

  • Develop strength of character

  • Respond to others and ourselves with compassion

  • Create positive-healthy connections with peers

  • Nurture social and emotional competencies

GOTR for Grownups at MIT

Members of the SoleMates MIT cohort are invited to participate in four exclusive GOTR for Grownups lessons at select MIT practices throughout the spring season. Lessons will be begin at 7:30am prior to the start of each practice on the following dates:

 

Lesson 1: Communicating Effectively: The Hard & the Easy

Date: February 3rd

Lesson 2: Responding Using Pressing Pause

Date: March 16th

​

Lesson 3: Star Power, Self-Talk & Finding Balance

Date: April 20th

​

Lesson 4: Using Agency to Stand up for Ourselves and Others

Date: May 19th, GOTRCO 5K and SoleMates MIT celebration

How often do MIT cohort members meet?

Members of the MIT SoleMate cohort will meet once a month prior to a Saturday morning MIT workout to participate in a quick GOTR for Grownups lesson. They are also invited to participate in an end of season celebration.

What is Girls on the Run?

Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to enhance participants' social, emotional and physical skills to successfully navigate life experiences. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

What is MIT?

Since 2001, MIT has been Central Ohio’s go-to resource for half and full marathon training. Thousands upon thousands of finish lines have been crossed. Millions of miles have been logged. MIT has and always will be about much more than a marathon!

How much money do SoleMates fundraise?

SoleMates are required to raise a minimum of $165 for Girls on the Run of Central Ohio but are encouraged to set their goal as high as they'd like!

How can I support members of the MIT SoleMate cohort?

Can't join the cohort but still want to support? Donate to a SoleMate's fundraising campaign and help them reach their goal!
